They are frequently noticed fluttering about the garden from early spring to late fall." - Chickens feed on them, delicious!

PERSPECTIVE
Perspective is another way of seeing things. Sometimes the way forward seems pointless, some never go there, some just stop.

We must always press on no matter how we feel. Being an artist can lead to taking on others emotions, channelling the unknown,
feeling it is all about self and then we discover that the pain is not ours, but theirs.

JOHNNY CASH was born on this day in 1932
I drove out to Hendersonville on a beautiful sunny day to get my cameras cleaned and some repaired.
As I had to wait a few minutes I took a drive on Johnny Cash Parkway and saw people standing by Johnny and June's graves.
I had another Nikon and my iPhone. The light was magical. The flowers and messages heartwarming. I snapped a few pictures and returned to Forest Camera Repair.
I showed Wendy a few pictures and she said that Johnny had brought a camera in for repair once with his assistant, Hugh Waddell.
Then I remembered having recommended her. Wendy said that Johnny was really nice and talked cameras (she has a display of old cameras).
I said it would have been his 84th birthday today. Wendy said it was her birthday today too. How serendipitous.
Some days are magical.

NASHVILLE SNOW STORM

A few days of hard winter is all we get in Nashville. Today was fabulous.
I walked for hours with cameras. I saw many smiling faces, including dogs and squirrels. Some maintenance men scraped, plowed and swept.
Snow men and women were built, even saw a snow child. Snow balls were thrown. Birds found food, humans played on sliding things.
I was radiantly happy walking in our winter wonderland.
After several hours one of my cameras (Fuji) froze, my feet were soaked and numbed and my hat and jacket were covered in snow.
The Nikon, iPhone and me kept going till dark. Outside my home neighbours were making a snowman as the snow laden bushes appeared as if they bowed to us.
The day was magical.

Corgis love the snow. Southern Magnolias tough it out.

This man has no car, he was walking to get some food. Maybe he has food stamps, maybe not?
Maybe he has medical, maybe not! - Maybe he has a home, maybe not? - Maybe someone loves him, maybe not?
I hope he and others have a warm place to be.

BILLY GRAHAM STATUE Nashville
One of my last pictures of 2015 taken New Years Eve at 9:45 pm downtown Nashville.
I have met the real BILLY GRAHAM several times and been on the podium when he preached to stadium audiences.
I am not a religious man, preferring spirituality trusting in the ways of nature.
Billy Graham is a wonderful man, I have enjoyed his company and gracious conversation and his late wife, Ruth was a lovely woman. Their close mutual friends were John and June Cash.

I like this statement of New Year by the Reverend Graham, words we can all savour as humans as the clock ticks:
"As we flick the calendar to a new year, we come face to face with the fact that our days on earth are numbered.
As the Psalmist wrote, “Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
No thoughtful person can approach New Year’s Day without some introspection. We are reminded of the brevity of time.
We also look back over our failures, mistakes, and missed opportunities and vow that we will make better use of our time during the coming year.
We should take time to be pleasant, to smile, to extend the small courtesies we often omit to show love to our family. Psychiatrists tell us that most people are starved for love. Take time for the goodbye kiss; we shall go to work with a sweeter spirit. Let us take time to get acquainted with our families. We are not machines. We are not robots. Let us take time to express our love in a thousand ways."
