The photo above was taken when I attended the preview of JUNE a new film about June Carter Cash at Nashville’s Woolworth Theatre.
The film includes many of my photographs over 2 decades and loads of my video footage from mainly the Press On recording sessions and my time in Jamaica shooting the album cover.
This on-screen picture is my contact sheet of Johnny and June on their bus in 1987. The grease pencil marks are mine, and the check mark (tick) is Johnny’s edit.
The documentary was made by women about a remarkable woman in Country music and American history.
The invited audience included: The Cash Family (John Carter Cash, Carlene Carter, Joe Cash, Tiffany Lowe, Ana Cristina Cash) Emmylou Harris, Larry Gatlin, Jane Seymour, and more.
The film received a standing ovation and some tears from most of us.
Credit is due to the production team and always to the memory of JUNE.
The director, Sarah Olsen worked closely with me for ten months of editing for my content. It was a lot of exhausting work that took over my life. My interview was with the producer Kristen Vaurio.
No Cash documentary would be complete without Cash historian, Mark Stielper, who is also featured in the film.
The film launched on Paramount+ on January 16th, 2024.
