BILL MONROE

Bill Monroe greeted me at the farm gate wearing his famous suit and hat, walked me up to his log cabin, opened his old family trunk, brought out some sheets of Irish folk music and played me a few jigs and reels. He was a great lover of music and women, with a solid respect for diligent and efficient hard work, rightly dubbed, "The Father of Bluegrass.” I returned to his farm a week later to photograph his iconic mandolin for his MASTER OF BLUEGRASS album.
